Guidelines

Our Rules and Guidelines

  • We are licensed for six passengers per boat. Children and adults, whatever age or size, are considered a passenger according to the U.S. Coast Guard.  If we would take more than 6 passengers, we could lose our captain's license forever. Most private charter boats are licensed for 6 passengers in Florida regardless of the size (carrying capacity) of the boat.

  • Reservations require about a 50% deposit to secure your cruise. Should the weather be deemed unsafe, we will give you a "rain check" to another date, or refund your deposit in full.

  • Short notice reservations: In general we accept short notice reservations, but we do require payment in full at time of booking to secure the charter. Please call the office to inquire.

  • If you have to reschedule for some reason, please give us as much notice as possible.

  • Cancellation: To get a full refund you must cancel your charter at least 24 hours in advance from trip start.

  • You are considered a "No Show" if you are 30 minutes late and do not call (239) 734-5636. You will forfeit your deposit.

  • If you are redeeming a gift certificate and are a "No Show" you will forfeit your gift certificate.

  • What if our trip is cut short? Let's say you book a half-day trip (four hours) and a  storm makes us return to the dock after two hours, you will only be charged 50% of the total price of your trip. You will only be charged for the length of the trip any given day allows us to get in.

  • Gratuities are standard in this industry and are usually a percentage of the total purchase price. The going rates for tips in the US are 10-25%. But in the end, it is up to you and how happy you were with the captain/guide and your trip and is a sign of your appreciation.  A tip, no matter how small, is always a morale boost for our captains, guides and first mates. (You can include it in the payment or give it to the captain or guide directly. )

  • If there were any issues during the charter, please let the office know via email or with a call. If you were satisfied with the captain and the charter we would be very happy if you leave a review either on Google or on Tripadvisor  where we have listings under "Mangroveman Charters" or "Mangroveman Charters LLC."
